Ιουλίς (Στο νησί Τζιά) - Ioulis (island of Tzia)

This "tight" building of houses in the Greek islands is very impressive and I don't know whether you see it in other countries. Of course, it is obvious that privacy is not at its best, but, perhaps, this was not a priority for the residents. The word "privacy" has no exact counterpart in the Greek language, anyway and a rather recently coined word is used for it.

Even though the houses are close, it does make for a very interesting photo being that all the houses are white with red roofs. All images I think I've ever seen of Greece are with white buildings. Is that the only color you find in architecture there? It really does mean Greece to me! Thanks so much for stopping by my place and saying hi! I've browsed your blog and love your eye for photography. I'll definitely be coming back!

@Lisa Gordon: Yes, they are close to each other. And this is typical for Greek islands. Thanks for your visit.

@She Who Carries Camera: White is chosen on the basis of its properties to reflect, more than any other color, sun rays and heat. This helps the inside stay cool, despite the intense summer heat.
Besides, the colors of the Greek flag are blue and white, reflecting the mostly clear skies with scattered clouds and the blue sea with white wave tops. Thanks for your visit.
